Weber Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill

The Weber Q 320 /Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill is the truly grown-up version of the Weber Q 100 / Q 1000 Portable Propane Gas Grill that we profiled here.

Weber Q 3200This grill combines all of the basic features of the Q100/Q1000 and the Q220/Q2200 but goes still a few steps further.

You can see a quick comparison of the Weber Q series propane gas grills here.

For 2014 Weber restyled their Q 300 series grills. While keeping the quality workmanship you come to expect from Weber, they have made the following enhancements resulting in a name change to the 3000 series grills:

  • Larger grip handle and control knobs
  • Ergonomic side handles
  • Sturdy front and rear cradles
  • Large fold-down side tables with improved rigidity
  • Weber Q logo prominently branded in the lid

The Q3200 joins the Q1200 and the Q2200 with an electronic ignition whereas the Q1000 and Q2000 each have the piezo
ignition.

What Do I Like About the Weber Q 320 / Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill?

FIRST, you can not miss the generous cooking surface of the Weber Q 3200. With a full 393 square inch cooking surface over 2 stainless steel burners and a 69 square inch warming rack, there is plenty of room for that festive outdoor occasion.

Weber Q 300 and Weber Q 320 cooking surface

The picture on the left shows the older Q300 grill, which has the same cooking surface as the Q3200, with 8 chicken thighs, 19 drumsticks, and 8 chicken wings. That should be enough to get the party going.

SECOND, this grill has the electronic ignition for quick starting, and with a full 21,700 BTU output reaches full cooking temperature in no time at all.

The built-in thermometer allows you to easily monitor the internal cooking temperatures to ensure that what you are cooking comes out just the way you like it.

Weber Q300 and Q320 Thermometer

The thermometer records temperatures up to 600 degrees, fully sufficient for that perfect sear.

THIRD, the tall lid profile that was first introduced on the Weber Q 220 propane gas grill and continued with the Q 300 and now the Q 3200 provides enough room to cook two whole chickens if desired. With the adjustable burner controls, you have the ability to grill fast and hot or to cook slowly and at lower temperatures.

FOURTH, and this is just one of those little extras that get thrown in but can really be useful, is the Grill Out® handle light. This handy little feature allows you to grill any time of the day or night by focusing the 3 LED bulbs on the grilling surface. The light can be activated either manually or with a tilt sensor. This light unit does require 3 AAA batteries that must be purchased separately. This is really an advantage in lower light situations and beats trying to hold a flashlight in your mouth.

FIFTH, unique to this barbecue grill is the included stationary cart. When bolted to this cart, the Weber 3200, while still somewhat portable, becomes more of a permanent feature in your outdoor cooking arena. The included wheels permit easy mobility.

What Do I Not Like About the Weber Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill?

BOTH the older Q300 series and the new Q3200 series barbecue grills are the only grills in the Weber Q Series that require a standard 20 lb. propane tank which must be purchased separately.

The Weber Q3200 DOES NOT come with an adapter hose for the required 20lb propane tank. You will need to obtain both items separately.

Not being able to use the smaller propane bottles the smaller Q’s can, limits the convenient portability of this grill. It may not be the easiest to pick up and carry with you on your next outdoor venture as the grill is not easily removed from the rolling cart.

Is the Weber Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill for you?

  • Are you looking for a propane gas grill that lights easily and attains cooking temperature quickly?
  • Do you regularly grill for more than 2 or 4 people?
  • Are you seeking a grill with a large enough lid to cook two whole chickens at a time?
  • Are you searching for a gas barbecue grill that can be moved but remain attached to a large fuel source?
  • Do you want a grill that has more than one burner?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you should seriously consider investing in the Weber Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill.

What are others saying about the Weber Q320 / Q3200 propane grill?

With the introduction of the restyled Weber Q series portable gas grills in 2014, there are not as many user/owner reviews online at the time of this posting. In addition, Amazon has chosen to include customer reviews for the entire series of grills in the same report.

Since the grills themselves are essentially the same in terms of functionality and size as their predecessors, you can get a feel for how the owners like their grills by going to the reviews for the earlier versions.

At the time of this writing, 364 Amazon customers had given the earlier version of this grill (Q 320)a 5.0-star rating and 57 had given it 4 stars. I have encapsulated and paraphrased a few of those reviews below.
